Greta Down It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Greta Down on Thursday June 16th, 2022, at Sunnybrook Hospital Toronto at the age of 88. Passed away peacefully on Friday, December 31, 2021 at Lakeridge Health - Oshawa Site at the age of 94. Beloved wife of the late Stephen Doyle. Cherished mother of Mary Ann (Stan), the late Arthur (survived by his wife Heather) Jeff and Earl (Cathy). Devoted grandmother of Brad (Sarah), Stephen (Elizabeth), Katharine (Andrew), David (Wemi), Dakota (Casey), Trent, Riley (Mckenna), Amy (Ben) and Jason (Elysha). Proud great-grandmother of Zachary, Ryan, Jessica, Alayo, Jacob, Adeline, Harper, Ethan, Kennedy and Fiara. Doreen was devoted to her family and community. The Women’s Institute and her church were always important to her. She maintained a constant determination to “do things right”, even when eyesight and health failed in later years. A heartfelt thanks to the Team at Traditions of Durham who compassionately cared for her needs over the past few years and to the Palliative Care Team at Lakeridge Health, Oshawa for their kindness and care during the recent weeks.
Doreen will be laid to rest with her late husband at Bowmanville Cemetery.

It is withvery heavy hearts, the family of Arianne Matthews announces her sudden passing far too soon at the young age of 16 on Friday March 12th, 2021. Loving daughter of Dean and Lynn Matthews. HEAD, Terry – We are saddened to announce the death of Terry Christopher Head, in his 50th year, on Sunday November 17, 2019. Terry was originally from Bowmanville and currently lived in London. Terry will be lovingly remembered by Ken Whatman, by his parents Sharon and Barry Head of Newcastle, and by the whole congregation of First-St. Andrew’s United Church, London. Terry began his journey in music at the piano at the age of 6. He was loved and respected wherever he played his song. While completing his undergraduate degree in Performance at Western, he was Organist at Ilderton Anglican Church. At Emmanuel College, University of Toronto, he attained his Masters Degree in Sacred Music and was also a graduate of the Glen Gould School, at the Royal Conservatory of Music. Terry’s calling to the ministry of music leadership and performance led him to Maplegrove United Church, St. Andrew’s United Church in Peterborough, Bridge Street United Church in Belleville, and for the last 3 years, First-St. Andrew’s United Church, London. Terry was an Executive member of the London Centre of Royal Canadian College of Organists, Music United Convenor for the Antler River Watershed Region, and Vice President and Chair of the Program Committee for the Ontario Guild of English Handbell Ringers. Terry was also a brilliant chef and a masterful seamster. Above all, Terry was a thoughtful, caring, authentic, faithful person, who was much loved and will be dearly missed. Visitation on Monday, November 25 from 7-9 pm at First-St. Andrew’s United Church, 350 Queens Ave. at Waterloo, London, where the funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, November 26 at 11 am. Visitation will also precede the service from 10-11 am on Tuesday. A reception will follow the service. Interment Bowmanville Cemetery the following day, November 27.
